Expansion of Urgent Care Services in Orléans

A concept drawing of what the new Urgent Care and Health facility in Orléans could look like.

MPP Stephen Blais recently met with the leadership team at IDEAL Health Group to discuss the construction of a major new healthcare facility that will expand urgent care services in the east end of Ottawa.

During the meeting, Blais sat down with Amir Mourad Sadek, President, Nadia Butt, Chief Operating Officer, and Nelly Antranikian, Executive Assistant, to review plans for the group’s new 12,000-square-foot medical facility at 4405 Innes Road in Orléans, located across from McDonald’s.

The new clinic will house an expanded Orléans Urgent Care Clinic alongside a larger Innes IDEAL Pharmacy, significantly increasing access to healthcare services for local residents. Once completed, the facility will include more examination rooms, extended clinic hours, and on-site diagnostic services designed to improve patient flow and reduce pressure on hospital emergency departments.

The expanded facility is expected to bring additional family physicians and medical specialists to the community, including services such as cardiology and dermatology. Centralizing imaging labs and cardiac testing within the clinic will allow patients to access diagnostic services more quickly and conveniently in one location.

A key goal of the expansion is to divert non-emergency cases away from hospital emergency rooms, helping reduce wait times while ensuring residents receive timely care closer to home. The project will also include dedicated efforts to support Canadian Armed Forces veterans transitioning into the public healthcare system, helping them connect more quickly with family physicians and primary care services.

Following the meeting, Blais has also reached out to the Ontario Ministry of Health to explore opportunities for provincial support as the clinic transitions to its new location. Discussions include potential assistance to modernize systems, improve operational efficiency, and ensure the facility can meet the growing healthcare needs of residents in Orléans.

The new healthcare centre represents an important step toward expanding community-based care in Ottawa’s east end, improving access to family doctors, diagnostic services, and urgent care in a modern, centralized facility.
