the Growing Crisis Facing Boys and Young Men

WHEREAS boys and young men in Ontario are facing growing challenges in education, employment, mental health, and social connection; and

WHEREAS evidence shows widening gaps in academic achievement, declining labour-force participation, rising youth unemployment, increasing loneliness, and worsening mental-health outcomes among young men; and

WHEREAS parents, educators, employers, and community leaders across Ontario are raising concerns about the long-term social and economic consequences of these trends; and

WHEREAS Ontario currently lacks a clear, coordinated, province-wide strategy to understand and address the challenges facing boys and young men in a comprehensive and evidence-based way;

THEREFORE, we, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:

To call on the Government of Ontario to immediately develop and publish a comprehensive, evidence-based provincial strategy to address the challenges facing boys and young men, including their educational success, economic participation, mental health, and social well-being, and to report publicly on progress.
