Statement on Residential Schools

The grim discovery of the remains of 215 children at a former residential school in Kamloops has elicited a powerful reaction from Canadians across the country.

The Ford Government recently voted against ensuring classroom education on the history of colonization and its impacts on the rights of indigenous peoples. Moreover, upon taking office, the Ford Government cancelled curriculum about the residential school system.
