Promise Made, Promise Kept - New English Catholic High School Funded
Last week, MPP Stephen Blais successfully secured a $74.7 million provincial investment for a new English Catholic high school in Orléans—delivering on a key commitment he made to the community during the February election.
The new Mer Bleue High School, to be located along Brian Coburn Boulevard, will accommodate 1,439 students and help relieve overcrowding at St. Peter Catholic High School. This will be the first new English-language high school built in Orléans in more than 30 years.
With funding now approved, the Ottawa Catholic School Board will proceed through the City of Ottawa’s zoning and site plan control process before construction can begin.
School construction has been a long-standing priority for MPP Blais, dating back to his time representing Orléans on the Ottawa Catholic School Board. He has consistently advocated for investments that eliminate portables, reduce student travel times, and ensure schools keep pace with Orléans’ rapid growth.
Despite not being a member of the government, since his election in February 2020, MPP Stephen Blais has secured nearly $200 million in school construction funding for Orléans—helping ensure local students can learn in modern, safe, and supportive environments.
