Michael Qaqish, Manager of Government Relations, MPP Tyler Watt, Nepean, Claude Brulé, the President of Algonquin College, MPP Stephen Blais, Orléans, and Katherine Root, the Dean of the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence.
MPP Stephen Blais and MPP Tyler Watt were pleased to connect with Claude Brulé, the President of Algonquin College, Katherine Root, the Dean of the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence, Michael Qaqish, Manager of Government Relations and Special Advisor to Mr. Brulé, and Shaun Barr, the Chair of Apprenticeship Training & Mechanical Training.
Opened in 2011, the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence is helping prepare the next generation of skilled trades professionals through hands-on learning, field placements and strong partnerships with Ottawa’s construction industry. Its innovative, sustainable facility brings students, faculty and industry together to support training that reflects the real demands of today’s workforce.
“It was a good opportunity to connect with post-secondary leaders in Ottawa and hear about their current priorities, challenges and the important work being done to support students across our growing community.
It was also really interesting to see the world’s largest pepper grinder in person! It’s 16 feet tall and holds over two million peppercorns. The most interesting part is that it was made by students and faculty in Algonquin College’s Cabinetmaking program.” -MPP Blais
