New Chief Medical Officer of Health

  • Provincial News

Effective June 26th 2021, Dr. Kieran Moore has been appointed as the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health.

Dr. Moore has served as the Medical Officer of Health for Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox, & Addington (KFL&A) Public Health since July 2017, and has extensive experience in surveillance systems for bioterrorism and outbreak detection.

Under the leadership of Dr. Moore, the region of KFL&A has had far lower COVID-19 case counts and deaths than majority of Ontario’s public health units. In all of 2020, there was just one COVID-19 related death in the region, and this was partly due to Dr. Moore’s swift actions to prevent the spread of the virus. KFL&A was the first region in Ontario to mandate indoor masks last June.

I congratulate Dr. Moore on his new appointment, and look forward to seeing him guide Ontario’s post pandemic recovery.
