Commuters can rejoice after council Wednesday approved a plan to study widening Hwy. 174.
The United Counties of Prescott-Russell will lead the environmental assessment from the Hwy. 417 split eastward, plus 8 km of County Rd. 17 toward Rockland. The city will also oversee the study within its boundaries. The total cost of the study is expected to be $5 million, which the province is providing.
Cumberland Coun. Stephen Blais hopes the study will also look at putting a “proper” interchange at Trim Rd.
