Significant work to be conducted between Cameron and Canaan Road on HWY 174E
Councillor Blais is pleased to announce that the City spending $2 million for resurfacing on the 174 East.
Work will include milling of the top surface and the preparation of the shoulders with resurfacing to commence afterward. Shoulders will be paved as well which will be welcomed news to residents.
“I’m pleased to see that the 174 East will be getting the attention it needs” says Blais. “It’s by far the most important road for those living in the east end, and needs to be attended too”.
To help speed the project along and reduce inconvenience to residents on Highway 174, the contractor has offered to work nights from 18h30 to 5h00. To reduce traffic congestion, work will not be permitted during peak use of the road and includes no lane reductions from 5h00 to 9h00 and from 15h00 to 18h30.
“This is a step in the right direction, but there is still more that needs to be done.” adds Blais. “I’m committed to ensuring that commuters in Orléans and in rural Ottawa have high quality transportation options.”
This $2 million project is part of the multimillion dollar investment that Councillor Blais has been able to secure for Cumberland ward in 2017. Construction will begin once half load road restrictions are removed, typically second week of May and is aimed to be completed by mid-June, 2017.
