Stephen met with dozens of rural municipal leaders at the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) annual meeting.
From infrastructure to healthcare, it is clear that rural communities need support.
An important aspect of this support will be to re-upload infrastructure that was downloaded by the Provincial Government in the late 1990’s. This has put an enormous burden on rural and small communities across the province.
This includes HWY 174 here in Ottawa.
Stephen has a private members bill (Bill 68, Uploading Highways 174 and 17 Act, 2023) that would, if passed, re-upload HWY 174 and 17 to the province freeing up millions of dollars for other local road priorities in Orléans and Ottawa.
The Bill is set to be debated this spring, and Stephen will be pressing the Government to re-upload HWY 174 just as they have recently done with the Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto.
