Councillor Stephen Blais joined Mayor Jim Watson and the Lalande family of Orléans today at the Des Sentiers elementary school for the unveiling of Lalande Conservation Park.

This new eco-friendly park, adjacent to the Des Sentiers School on Nantes Street, will provide children with an innovative outdoor classroom, a play structure, benches and picnic tables for all to enjoy, as well as lush greenery.

Lalande Conservation Park adds to the long list of new parks that have been built in Cumberland Ward since Councillor Stephen Blais took office.

“With the completion of this park, Cumberland Ward has seen well over $6 million in new parks in the past year,” said Blais. “Providing places for families and children to take in the fresh air is fundamental to a rapidly growing community such as Orleans and I intend to continue on this trajectory.”

This newest addition to the City’s parks inventory represents an investment of over $200,000. Further to this, the park was preserved as an Urban Natural Feature which will provide a natural environment for residents and provide an opportunity to learn about some of the natural features found in the area.

The park will make a special contribution to the community and the adjacent Des Sentiers School.
