On September 2nd, 2021 Ottawa’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Vera Etches, issued the following statement:

“We know that the rate of new people testing positive among the unvaccinated population who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine is 41.3 per 100,000 while the rate of new cases among those fully vaccinated is 2.7 per 100,000.

This means that the risk of COVID-19 infection among the unvaccinated population who are eligible for a vaccine is 15 times higher than it is for the fully vaccinated population.

We’d love to see the unvaccinated population become protected with the vaccine.”
